FNB’s Peter Bower, senior vice president and commercial banking team leader, and Chris Sullivan, vice president and market manager, delivered the gift to the college. The contribution was made through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program in support of the college’s SMART Girls and Penn College NOW programs.
SMART Girls (Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies) is a unique summer camp on the Penn College campus that gives girls in grades 9 – 11 the opportunity to experience math and science as a foundation for careers in technology. Penn College NOW enables high school students to earn college credits through dual-enrollment courses taught by approved teachers at their home high schools or career and technology centers.
Both programs are recognized as “innovative educational programs” under the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s EITC program, of which the Penn College Foundation has been an approved participant since 2011.
