Centre Helps

Denise Herr McCann is the Executive Director of Centre Helps. Centre Helps operates a 24/7 crisis hotline through the 988 Suicide Lifeline and provides connections to resources to prevent eviction, utility shut-off, or food insecurity. Denise is a strong advocate for those who are experiencing hunger homelessness, or hurt, giving a voice to the most vulnerable people in our community. She currently serves on the board of Leadership CC, the advisory board of HOPE, and on the nominating committee of PAWS. She is a Family Recovery Specialist and also consults for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, monitoring Runaway and Homeless Youth programs across the county. Before moving to Centre County, Denise was a high school English teacher, dorm parent, and coach. She is a mother of three young men, 29, 26, and 21. She enjoys her family, working out, reading, baking, world travel, and fostering orphaned kittens.
