Women in Business
BY SPENCER MYERS
Editor

This past September, we published our seventh annual Women Making a Difference edition of the Pennsylvania Business Central, which provided our readers with 37 profiles of hardworking members of almost every industry, from non-profit to banking to healthcare.

It has been the mission of that campaign to project women’s voices into the business community. But why limit this necessary editorial to once a year?

We are happy to announce that now we have decided to provide a platform for women in business to tell their stories year round with a new publication, Pennsylvania Business Central's Women in Business. Editorial will take the form of both reader provided profiles, advertorials and spotlights as well as our own articles written by women experienced in an array of fields including law, energy and finance.

As we focus in on sections of the B2B world, it benefits us to rethink how we define our coverage. For instance, when we created the Marcellus Business Central, we knew that our coverage would have to change to fit the industry, so we expanded out to parts of Ohio, West Virginia, New York and reached further down into the Pittsburgh region, all while keeping our home base in Central Pennsylvania. Similarly, the evolution of digital communication combined with a growing number of mergers and partnerships, has connected the Pennsylvania business world more than ever.

Recognizing this, we would like our readers to think of Women in Business as a regional resource for not only Central Pennsylvania, but also all of the branches and connections stretching out from it.

In order to tap into the expansive network of the energy business, we had to become part of the wide array of conventions and events taking place in Pennsylvania. We plan on taking the same approach to the women in business world. This year we already attended and covered the Entrepreneurial Women’s Expo as well as provided coverage for the Women in Energy Appalachia chapter. Look for these groups and more to be a major facet of the publication moving forward.

This coming January, look for Women in Business to be the premier platform for the growth and connection of women-owned businesses. Our first issue will focus on celebrating entrepreneurs and how to take advantage of a new year of opportunities.
