2007 PENNSYLVANIA BUILDS
a regional design showcase of new buildings.

All eligible architects are invited to submit a maximum of two projects that meet the above eligibility for publication in the December 7 issue of the PBC.

Eligibility

This showcase is for:

• built projects [new buildings, renovation of existing buildings or site development projects, excluding single and double family residences.
• that have been designed by members of firms whose principal[s] are members of the Middle Pennsylvania Chapter [MPC] or members of any chapter of the American Institute of Architects [AIA],
• completed after December 2002.
and are located within the Pennsylvania Business Central’s coverage region [PBC] and the Middle Pennsylvania Chapter [MPC] of the American Institute of Architects. Counties include: Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Huntingdon, Indiana, Juniata, Lycoming, Mifflin, Northumberland, Potter, Snyder, Somerset, Tioga, Union and Westmoreland.


Submission Criteria.

Submissions must be made with contact information of the submitter and include:

• Minimum of three photographs of the project
• Name of the building/project,
• Name of the owner,
• Name of all licensed designed professional firms that were involved in the project,
• Name of all prime contractors and major sub contractors such as Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning, Electrical and Plumbing,
• A narrative description of the project.
Names of building owners, design professional firms and contractors must include addresses, contact individuals and telephone numbers, email addresses are optional.
The narrative description of the project should be limited to not more than 500 words and should answer the following questions:
• The project type: new, renovation of existing building, or site development
• Completion date
• The community setting for the project
• The purpose of the project; for a building identify the occupancy type
• Design problems which needed tlved
• Other challenges met to complete the project
• Any other information deemed appropriate by the submitter.
Optional information, which may be included:
• Site plan
• Floor plans
• Owner/user testimonials
It is the submitter’s responsibility to obtain the owner’s permission to publish the project along with the permission of the photographer. Provide the name of the photographer if credit is to be given in the publication.

Submission Format:

It is preferred that submissions are made in electronic format with text in MS Word and graphics in tiff or jpeg files. Information may be submitted by compact disk or in paper format at the discretion of the submitter. If possible, paper documents should be a maximum of 8 1/2” x 11”. These files must be scanned and saved at 170 dpi in CMYK color.

E-mail (limit of 5MB) E-mailed files should be Stuffed or Zipped.

Return of Submissions: Original paper copies of submissions will be returned if requested with the submittal, electronic material will not be returned.
Publication. PBC will select those pictures and graphics to be published and may crop graphics to fit the format of the article. Final text will be edited by PBC in the format of its choosing.
At least one picture of one submission from each submitter will be included in the publication, the choice will be at the discretion of PBC based on their assessment of the needs and interests of the reading public including creating variety in the showcase. The second submission will be included only as space permits and at the sole discretion of PBC.
PBC may contact the submitters, building owners, other design professionals, and contractors to gather additional information about the project for use in the final publication.
Privacy Clause: Names and addresses of entities included in the submission will not be sold or given to any other organization. PBC reserves the right to solicit advertisements from design entities and contractors that are identified in the submissions.
Liability Clause: Middle Pennsylvania Chapter and Pennsylvania Business Central assume no liability for original drawings and other submission materials or loss or damage of any part of the submission. Middle Pennsylvania Chapter and Pennsylvania Business Central retain the right to reproduce any of the submission materials in their publications, educational programs and web site.
