Southern Alleghenies Planning and Develop Commission

Est. 1967

The Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission (SAP&DC) is a nonprofit regional organization governed by county commissioners and ad hoc board members from Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon and Somerset Counties. The commission is dedicated to promoting economic and community development, fostering cooperation among communities and the agencies that serve them and working to make “the Alleghenies a better place to live, work and do business.”

SAP&DC provides planning and economic development assistance for economic and community development projects, transportation planning and programming, technology development and regional planning activities. It also assists small and medium-sized businesses in the Alleghenies by providing technical and financial assistance to help the region’s businesses retain and create jobs. This assistance also includes international trade that helps businesses increase their sales of exported goods and services; government contracting in federal state, local and sub-contracting marketplaces; marketing and communication assistance; and business lending services and assistance for business enterprises that are unable to finance projects with conventional loans.

The SAP&DC is proud of all they accomplish through their productive and useful partnerships. Their strong and cooperative working relationships have resulted in jobs being created and retained, businesses securing lucrative contracts, hospitals acquiring the newest equipment, recreation trails and roads and bridges being built, individuals going to school and developing marketable skills and farms being expanded and passed to the next generation.
