Lycoming Engines

Williamsport
Est. 1845

Lycoming Engines specializes in the engineering, manufacture, service and support of piston aircraft engines. With a factory in Williamsport, Pa., Lycoming piston engines are estimated to power more than half of the world’s general aviation fleet both rotary-wing and fixed-wing. Lycoming also provides engines for military training schools and other specialized applications. Lycoming Engines is an operating division of Avco Corporation.

Lycoming Engines offers a complete line of FAA certificated and experimental category aviation piston engines: horizontally opposed, air-cooled, four-, six- and eight-cylinder aircraft engines; the world’s only certificated aerobatic and helicopter piston engines; the iE2 Integrated Electronic Engine; a high power density liquid cooled jet fuel burning diesel cycle engine; and a single cylinder jet fuel burning spark ignited engine. Lycoming also provides a complete offering of support services from engines to spare parts.

They support various community-based activities such as the United Way, Central PA Food Bank, Magical Memories and Families United Network, as well as veterans and active service member activities.

Lycoming Engines serves two distinct communities with strong parallels: the general and military aviation community that is part of the world’s transportation and security infrastructure; and the local community that has enabled its business to serve the aviation sector since 1929. The manufacturer’s success as a business and track record in aviation is a result of its employees’ work and dedication. In the end, Lycoming Engines believes it is their responsibility to run the business well so it can continue to attract the talent needed to grow.

Lycoming Engines is particularly proud to have been featured at the Smithsonian Institution’s Air & Space Museum and to have received the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence in 2010, dubbed the “Nobel Prize” of the manufacturing world by Business Week.
