Juniata College

Est. 1876

Juniata College, a liberal arts undergraduate institution founded in 1876, has an enrollment of approximately 1,650 students.

Led by President James A. Troha, the college employs more than 400 people, including 100 full-time faculty members. Juniata College uses its design-it-yourself “Program of Emphasis” and two-faculty, advisers system to produce graduates that think critically, use that knowledge to develop into valued citizens and create thoughtful solutions when facing challenges.

The campus has transformed itself in the past 15 years by building a new residence hall, performing arts center and science center, while renovating two other historic classroom buildings. Over the past two years, the college has begun a $15 million investment in Juniata’s infrastructure and community by building a new athletic facility for soccer, tennis and lacrosse at the Winton Hill Athletics Complex. In addition, Juniata added an elevator and new fa├žade to Ellis Hall, made improvements to its athletic complex and created a Global Commons in two adjoining residence halls. Construction for the $4.5 million Thomas and Pat Kepple Integrated Media and Studio Arts Building should wrap up in fall 2017.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has named Juniata College a “Great Place to Work” for the eighth time in nine years. Juniata College’s faculty, staff, students and administration are active in many community organizations in Huntingdon County, often in leadership roles.
