The Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County is a champion of economic development and business growth in Centre County. The CBICC’s more than 900 members include businesses of all sizes and across all industry sectors, as well as nonprofit organizations. Centre County businesses belong to or partner with the CBICC for a variety of reasons from valuable networking opportunities and professional growth to community engagement and involvement in the mission to strengthen the local private sector. CBICC Connect the Chamber’s young professionals arm actively works to foster the next generation of leaders in Centre County.

The CBICC’s multifaceted economic development mission is focused on entrepreneurial development, business retention and proactive business recruitment. Under the banner of the Centre County Economic Development Partnership, the CBICC works with public and private sector stakeholders to strengthen and restore balance to the local economy.

The CBICC is a proud community partner as well, engaging with organizations such as Leadership Centre County; Global Entrepreneurship Week Penn State; Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts; First Night; and Pop Up Avenue, among other endeavors that contribute to the quality of life in Centre County.

A recent success story for the chamber was the announcement in July 2016 by Penn State, CBICC and officials from Morgan Advanced Materials of the location of a Carbon Science Centre of Excellence in Centre County a multi-million dollar investment aimed at creating a world-class research facility and create a range of highly skilled research jobs over the next few years. The agreement is the first global industrial partnership formed through Invent Penn State. Under the CCEDP banner, the CBICC represented the collective community throughout the dialogue with Penn State University and Morgan Advanced Materials, working closely with local elected officials and stakeholders as well.
