Founder, Chairman, President


Dr. Joel N. Myers is the founder, chairman, and president of AccuWeather, headquartered in State College. He founded the company in 1962 and has since driven AccuWeather to become the largest, fastest growing source of forecasts and warnings in the world.

AccuWeather has been said to have saved tens of thousands of lives and prevented over 100,000 injuries from severe weather. The company’s services reach than 1.5 billion people worldwide through technology, radio, T.V., newspapers, the AccuWeather Network cable channel and serves over 240 of Fortune 500 countries, as well as thousands of other businesses.

Myers is a proven visionary leader and is considered to be the nation’s most respected source on the business of meteorology. On a local level, he was recently awarded Penn State’s highest honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award. He is also a sought out expert nationwide, though, and was named “the most accurate man in weather” by The New York Times. In addition to his national success, he has also been hailed for achievements in Japan and many other countries.

Myers frequently appears on national television programs and delivers hundreds of scientific papers and speeches. In his spare time, he demonstrates his lifelong commitment to education by serving on the board of trustees for Penn State, a position he’s served in for 33 years, and Emeritus.
