Jenny Barron Landis

Executive Director

Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau

From early childhood, Jenny Barron Landis knew that a creative career was in her future. After earning a degree in communication design, she returned to her hometown of Lewistown and opened a studio in her parents’ basement. Her love of all things arts related inspired her to volunteer with the Mifflin-Juniata Arts Council. She stepped in as their promotions coordinator and has since held every office on the committee as well as Arts Festival chairman role for several years.

The marketing skills she learned as a volunteer and business owner led Landis to a variety of marketing jobs for businesses large and small including Mountain Dale Farm Vacation Retreat and The Patriot-News. She opened and managed Extrava Market, a retail store for Rich Coast Coffee, before coming to the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau as project coordinator. She was recently promoted to executive director.

Throughout her career, she has found that there are many reasons to share the workload beyond reducing your own stress.

“By bringing others into the project, you’re building a support staff that can not only add more value but you’re also ensuring that your project will continue even if you’re not there to see it through,” Landis said.

Landis continues to volunteer with the MJ Arts Council as well as with other nonprofit groups like Kid Connection. She creates and sells one-of-a-kind cards, pillows and a line of pins and magnets through her microbusiness, JayBeeYell.
