The Makery

Est. 2015 / State College

The Makery is a bright, light and beautiful 1800-square foot community arts and crafts studio in downtown State College.

The Makery specializes in creative classes, parties, workshops and events. With eight dynamic, talented instructors, The Makery offers fun, on-trend classes in sewing, painting, jewelry design, knitting, photography and more. The Makery’s “Open Studio” program offers a creative workspace for guests to create with their own materials or the studios. The Makery also houses a small marketplace of locally-made jewelry, accessories and gift items.

Prior to installing in this new space, many of the instructors were part of The Studio at Contempo, a creative collective in Boalsburg for four years. The move to this larger, downtown State College location allows The Makery to reach a broader audience and take on a larger presence in the community.

Since taking up residence in downtown State College, The Makery hosted several community events including the Schlow Memorial Library Maker Week, First Night and Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts workshops and the Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund’s Rock the 80s Concert Reception.
