Digital File Guide

How Are You Sending Us Your Files?

• E-mail (limit of 5MB) E-mailed files should be Stuffed or Zipped.
  On Disk (CD, 100MB Zip, Floppy)

We prefer Macintosh QuarkXPress files for all ads. We will accept other formats as well, however, restrictions apply. See below.

E-mail Instructions

If you are e-mailing your ad to us, please download our Digital File Guide pdf (available on our Advertising Downloads page), fill out the form and fax it to us. We need it to handle your files properly. Also, please fax us a hard copy of the ad itself so that we can compare it to what we get electronically. This will help us to avoid delays.

Send your files to production@pabusinesscentral.com and include your company name in the subject line. Once we have received your ad, and looked it over, we will reply to your email to let you know the ad is ok. We will also let you know if there are any problems with it.

A note about image quality and the internet: Please don't send us images that appear or have been used on a website. These are 72 dpi images and do not meet our quality standards!

Mac Users

Only files created with the following programs will be accepted.

• QuarkXPress - (up to v. 4.1)
• Photoshop - (up to v. 5.5)
• Pagemaker - (up to v. 6.5)
• Acrobat PDF (see below)
• Illustrator - (up to v. 8.0)

Fonts

• Use only Postscript Type 1 fonts in your ads.
• Provide both screen and printer components.
• Provide all fonts used in your ad.
• Avoid using menu type styles. For example, if you want to use a bold
  font, make sure you have the separate bold version of the font.
• If you do not supply all fonts, we will substitute with the closest possible match.

Images

• Photoshop TIFF preferred
• Photoshop EPS
• Illustrator EPS (up to v. 8.0)
• These files must be scanned and saved at 170 dpi in CMYK color.
• No RGB files will be accepted.

PDF Files

PDF files should be distilled with the following preferences:

• Embed all fonts
• For images in your ad, follow the above guidelines.
• Compress color and greyscale images to 170 dpi, monochrome images to 1200 dpi, or uncheck all compression options.
• Color should be left unchanged. Note that all images must be CMYK prior to creating a pdf of the ad. Don't use RGB images in your ad.

PC Users

There are restrictions on files we can accept for ads created on PC (non-Macintosh) computers. We can accept files created in the following programs: QuarkXPress for PC, Pagemaker for PC (v. 6.5), Illustrator for PC (should be Illustrator EPS with fonts outlined), and Acrobat PDF (see preferences above). Possible font substitutions apply.
